Fans of the cult sci-fi TV series Star Trek as well as full blown Trekkies who have some serious disposable money burning a hole in their pockets will soon be able to boldly sit down (or is that seat themselves boldly) in an accurate full size recreation of Captain Kirk’s chair as featured on the USS Enterprise thanks to the up and coming release of this fabulously geeky Captain Kirk’s Command Chair.
Listed as due to ship from June, but available to pre-order as of now, the Captain Kirk’s Command Chair comes complete with left and right arm controls (or replicas thereof) including Shuttle operation controls, Activation of viewscreen and Hailing frequencies and Intercom controls, Jettison pod and Micro tape player and, in case you’re wondering, yes, the chair does feature lighting and sound effects.
Billed as being ‘the perfect addition to any collection, display, home theater, or museum’ the Captain Kirk’s Command Chair, which measures in at 41” x 42” x 39” and which weighs in at 215 pounds will set you back just shy of a decidedly cool $2,200 though, if you wish to avail yourself of one you’ll be advised to act quickly as the chair is limited to a run of just 1,701 units.
