Once in a while, along comes a design concept that leaves us in complete awe – and this Ruby Rocking Chair from Iranian designer Pouyan Mokhtarani is just such an item. It really is jaw-droppingly magnificent.

Designed using the human form as all too evident inspiration – particularly the human pelvis and abdominal areas – Pouyan Mokhtarani’s Ruby Rocking Chair was designed for the 2008 Andreu World Intl Design Competition and, whilst there’s no information concerning either the materials envisaged in the Ruby Rocking Chair’s construction or whether this quite frankly amazing rocking chair has or will ever see it into commercial production, the moment we set our eyes on it we knew that was undoubtedly deserving of its place here on EP.

An unmitigated masterpiece of modern furniture design.
