TokyoFlash’s by no means sporadic stream of watch releases continues unabated with their new Kisai Denshoku LED watch which is apparently inspired by the neon signs of Tokyo’s Shinjuko skyline and which displays the time via a series of stacked LED bars that light up in a series of sequences to show the hours, the minutes (in groups of 10) and the single minutes which once again serves to make time telling decidedly more complex for the sake of sheer novelty value (but, this should come as no surprise as this is, after all TokyoFlash’s trademark).
Whilst garish, the TokyoFlash Kisai Denshoku LED watch is certainly not as overtly over-played as many of their latest watches – which, as far as we are concerned, is a good thing – but, whilst we respect the design (and even quite like it), we’ll once again distance ourselves from the levels of sheer, unerring devotion most other sites bestow on any TokyoFlash timepiece seeming by default.
Yes the Kisai Denshoku is novel. Yes the Kisai Denshoku is distinctive. But cool? Neat, perhaps, but it’s just a little too unsubtle to be genuinely cool, at least for us but, ultimately, as ever, the decision is yours and yours alone.
The aluminium TokyoFlash Kisai Denshoku LED watch comes in both sliver and black finishes and retails for just short of ¥24,000 – which roughly equates to $247 as at the time of writing.
