It doesn’t matter what activity you may be engaged in, if you’re active and using DAP/MP3 players or PMPs or, for that matter, any other portable device with wired headphones, the last thing you want is to have to deal with unruly cables – and this is where the brilliantly simple yet wholly effective wearable cable tidy from the Scandinavian design firm Preggioni, known as the Magneat, serves to bring some order to proceedings.
Designed to be worn on your clothing thanks to a patented magnet based means of attachment (hence the device’s somewhat catchy name) that allows complete freedom of movement whilst ensuring that your clothing remains unscathed, the Magneat allows you wind in excess cord length which the Magneat will subsequently keep in order and, whilst seemingly an overtly simple solution to excess headphone cable woes, the very beauty of the design is, in our mind, the beautifully uncomplicated method the Magneat employs to keep order whilst not ensuring that the device itself, unlike many other competing solutions we’ve seen and used, does not become a hindrance in itself.
Effective design can, and is, so very often the ability to tackle a problem head on without unnecessary pomposity and, in this, few would argue that the Magneat positively excels.
Available in a range of colors and prints, and ideal for everybody from joggers to snowboarders, the Magneat (which could well become a fashion item it itself), retails for around $15 to $20 depending on the finish.
