Whilst mini, portable speakers – for use with anything from PCs to DAPs and PMPs – are, on the whole, a dime a dozen, this particular highly portable USB speaker from Zumreed, known as the Zumreed DJ Speaker, which, as the name suggests, takes the form of a mini turntable certainly boasts considerable aesthetic appeal.
Consisting of a mono speaker, the turntable’s platter serving both as the speaker grill and the volume control (you turn the turntable’s platter to increase/decrease the volume output), the Zumreed turntable styled mini USB speaker comes in off-white (silver), red and black and is billed as offering enough endurance courtesy of its integrated rechargeable battery (the speaker won’t therefore drain power from any devices its hooked up to) to keep pumping out the tunes for up to an hour.
Offering USB connectivity which allows the Zumreed turntable styled mini USB speaker to be hooked up to any audio device with a USB port (the USB port is also used to recharge the speaker’s battery), this somewhat whimsical yet highly adorable portable speaker retails for around ¥2980 in Japan (which equates to around $32 at the time of writing).
