We have a particular penchant for all things minimal (you can keep your pink gadgetry, we very much prefer the less is more approach) and, when it comes to turntables, this new Genie 2 deck from Pro-Project would have been posted by us somewhat earlier had we not spent some considerable time trying to pick our tongues off the floor and regain some semblance of control back of our central nervous system.
Featuring a inverted main bearing brushes, a speed peripheral drive a motor completely de-coupled from the plinth and gold plated RCA phono sockets the will doubtless appeal to audiophiles and admirers of great, minimal design alike and, at a mere £140, the Genie 2 is hardly boasts an exaggerated price – in fact, we suspect that many would agree with us that from an aesthetic perspective alone (let alone its top-notch components) its more than worth the outlay just to drool over.
