Produced by the same company that brought us none other than that iconic lighting device of the 1960’s, the Lava Lamp, the Airswitch Lamp 1 serves as a decidedly modern lighting solution in coming complete with motion sensing gesture based controls.

Made of mouth-blown glass and plastic, the Airswitch Lamp 1 is turned on by simply moving your hand over the top of the light, with the lamp’s brightness being controlled by raising and lowering your hand to dim or brighten the light’s intensity – and if this all proves a little beyond you a series of iconic instructions are helpfully printed on the exterior of the lamp itself.

The Mathmos Airswitch Lamp 1 comes with a 40W bulb and retails for around $85 / £42 / €58 at the time of writing.
