Seats designed specifically for couples are nothing new, indeed we’ve featured one before in the form of this magnificent Tete-a-Tete Rocker, but what distinguishes this particular couples inspired seating, apart from being a unique item in its own right, is the fact that, somewhat curiously – and unlike the Tete-a-Tete – this seat seems to work by placing each person with their back to their partner.
Designed by Jake Phipps, the LoveSeat, which measures in at 50(H) x 50(W) x 125(D) cm and is formed of cast acrylic resin, could of course be making a somewhat bleak statement about love in it’s back to back design but whether its inspired by a rather less than romantic take of what love is (or, perhaps, what love becomes?) is entirely unclear from the product write-up.
What cannot be disputed, however, is the beautifully curvaceous lines of the design and, whether seated facing in wholly opposing directions or not, this seat undoubtedly serves to join two people in a union with use (whether on speaking terms or not).
The LoveSeat is available white, pink and green and retails for £995 (which is approximately $2053 at the time of writing).
